The ED Patient Access Rep registers patients in the Emergency Department by securing appropriate patient and insurance information; ensuring that registration data is correct and accurate; validating insurance eligibility and entering information into appropriate systems. The ED Patient Access Rep provides quality customer services to patients of all ages, their families, visitors, medical staff, clinicians and co-workers, ensuring that everyone is treated courteously, quickly and with respect.
Responsibilities- Register patients in the Emergency Department with accurate patient and insurance information.
- Validate insurance eligibility and enter information into appropriate systems.
- Provide quality customer service to patients, families, visitors, medical staff, clinicians and co-workers.
- Ensure that all interactions are courteous, quick, and respectful.
- Experience REQUIRED: N/A
- Previous healthcare setting experience and knowledge of medical terminology is PREFERRED.
- Experience with medical insurance, HMO, managed care is PREFERRED.
- Experience with appointment scheduling/registration is PREFERRED.
- Education / Training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent. (Work experience may be considered in lieu of credentials not required by law with HR approval; must be specific to role.) - Education / Training PREFERRED:
Post-high school education in healthcare or business-related coursework. - Independent action
:
Ability to perform daily activities with minimal supervision; self-directed in routine activities. Issues involving policy violations or sensitive/unusual situations should be brought to the immediate supervisor. - Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A

:
Incumbents are required to cover three shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled and are considered essential personnel and expected to report to work as assigned. - Ages served
