Job Summary and QualificationsJob Summary
Administers floor and critical care therapy modalities. Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis and instrument QC. Responds to cardiopulmonary arrests. Maintains and processes equipment. Provides specialized service to the department.
Specific Elements and Essential Functions- Maintains CPR certificate.
- Maintains license requirements.
- Maintains NBRC credentials for Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Fulfills staff meeting, in-service, competency and on‑going education requirements.
- Ensures safe and appropriate oxygen administrations through the Oxygen Therapist Driven Protocol.
- Performs non‑invasive SpO 2 monitoring through pulse oximetry via overnight studies, exercise, continuous and spot checks.
- Administers all therapy modalities to patients per physician orders.
- Performs VEST therapy.
- Performs basic operations on the Meditech system.
- Performs regular equipment rounds.
- Performs equipment cleaning and set up.
- Sets up and operates CPAP/Bi‑Level therapy.
- Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
Required:
Vocational School Graduate (Respiratory Therapy)
Preferred:
Associates Degree
Required:
One year critical care experience.
Preferred:
One year NICU/PICU experience. Knowledge and experience in basic floor care and mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy, capnography and oximetry equipment.
