Medicinal Chemistry (Pharmacy)

The School of Pharmacy at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time Research Technician to support ongoing research into chemistry and biology of glycosaminoglycans, especially in the area of synthesis, biophysics, and enzymology of proteins.

• Perform organic synthesis experiments
• Perform high-throughput screening experiments
• Organize and maintain laboratory space and inventory
• Write up experiments, compile notebook and maintain a log of experiments and results
• Availability to work weekends as needed

• Master’s of Science or equivalent degree or experience in medicinal chemistry or related field.
• Previous laboratory experience, particularly in biochemistry/synthetic chemistry and/or laboratory maintenance or management
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Self-motivated
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

• Prior training in glycosaminoglycans chemistry and biochemistry

$25 per hour
