Department SummaryThe School of Pharmacy at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time Research Technician to support ongoing research into chemistry and biology of glycosaminoglycans, especially in the area of synthesis, biophysics, and enzymology of proteins.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform organic synthesis experiments
- Perform high-throughput screening experiments
- Organize and maintain laboratory space and inventory
- Write up experiments, compile notebook and maintain a log of experiments and results
- Availability to work weekends as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s of Science or equivalent degree or experience in medicinal chemistry or related field.
- Previous laboratory experience, particularly in biochemistry/synthetic chemistry and/or laboratory maintenance or management
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Self-motivated
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
- Prior training in glycosaminoglycans chemistry and biochemistry
$25 per hour
