Location & OverviewLocated at the Adult Outpatient Pavilion, the Infectious Disease Clinic serves a diverse patient population from birth to geriatric for a wide range of cases such as HIV+ requiring lifetime treatment, cardiac transplant patients with post‑op infections and general adult . As a champion of affordable care, we are part of the Ryan White Program which helps provide funding to HIV+ individuals who are in need of assistance for their treatments.

16 hours/week, weekday daytime hours only.
ResponsibilitiesThe Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements- Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, the National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) and Health Care Professional (HCP) Certification or equivalent.
- One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if the individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
- No work experience required if the individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- Previous experience in an academic health care environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
- Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN to provide patient care, emotional support, and problem solving in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
- Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care deviating from standard, and identification of educational resources for developmental needs.
- Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to, and/or contact with medications and related supplies.
Position Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
- Schedules, including shift rotation requirements and hours of work, may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements and/or as needed.
- Lifting 20–50 lbs. (include use of assistance devices as appropriate).
- Prolonged standing and prolonged sitting.
- Frequent bending, walking distance, climbing steps or ladder.
- Reaching overhead, extensive, repetitive motions.
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, logical thinking.
- Adapt to fast pace environment and multiple priorities, and adapt to frequent change.
