About the Role
Our client is looking for a Licensed Counselor to provide comprehensive substance abuse and psychological counseling to patients in their journey toward recovery. In this role, you will manage all aspects of patient treatment, working closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team to deliver individualized and group therapy, develop treatment plans, and support long-term wellness.
Responsibilities- Clinical Coordination — Collaborate with the clinical team to guide patient care; participate in treatment planning and clinical meetings
- Assessment & Diagnosis — Evaluate patients using DSM criteria; determine appropriate levels of care based on ASAM guidelines
- Treatment Planning & Counseling — Develop and implement counseling components of treatment plans; conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions; provide crisis intervention when needed
- Discharge Planning & Support Services — Create discharge and aftercare plans; connect patients and families with external support resources
- Documentation & Compliance — Maintain accurate clinical records; ensure compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations
- Team Collaboration — Participate in multidisciplinary meetings; contribute to a supportive care environment
Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Rotational Saturday shifts (will decrease as the team grows)
- Education:
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work (must meet Virginia state guidelines) - Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in substance use, mental health, or related fields - Licensure:
Active in Virginia per 12
VAC — LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), or supervisee licensures
