Department SummaryThe mission of the Department of Nurse Anesthesia, Cardiovascular Perfusion Division, is to equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as part of an interprofessional team, serving the public through the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and high-quality perfusion services. We strive to develop leaders and scholars who will advance the specialty of cardiovascular perfusion through research, scholarship, and public service.

The adjunct instructor will be responsible for the following:
- For-credit course instruction within the Master's of Science in Cardiovascular Perfusion (MSCP) Program.
- Academic advising and participating in program research committee.
- Simulation teaching, as needed.
- Participating as a guest lecturer in other MSCP courses.
- Attending curriculum, program, and accreditation/renewal meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by Program Director or Department Chair.
- Certification as a perfusionist by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion.
- Ability to develop new course syllabi and program administrative documents that meet the requirements of the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Accreditation Committee-Perfusion Education 2019 Standards.
- Master's degree.
- At least three years of experience working as a Certified Cardiovascular Perfusionist.
- Content expertise: clinical practice of cardiovascular perfusion, 2019 Perfusion Standards.
- Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct faculty member at VCU.
- Experience as an instructor in an accredited educational program or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
- At least five years of experience working as a Certified Cardiovascular Perfusionist.
$36,900+ (commensurate with experience)
