PositionThe Sterile Proc Tech performs a variety of indirect patient care activities, including decontamination of surgical instruments and sterilization of instruments, supplies and equipment. The role ensures all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and ready for assembly on case carts. The position observes strict patient confidentiality following all HIPAA rules and regulations and maintains a clean and safe environment. This role also learns, performs and completes assignments during the transitional duty period.
Responsibilities- Decontaminate and sterilize all instruments and equipment according to procedures.
- Maintain inventory and par levels of all instruments and supplies.
- Follow OSHA and TJC guidelines.
- Assemble and prepare basic instrument sets and case carts.
- Access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies as part of job duties.
- Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: CRCST or CSPDT or CST/TS-C/CORST certification preferred.
- Must achieve CRCST, CSPDT, CST, TS-C or CORST certification within 24 months of hire.

- Experience PREFERRED:
Previous work experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or healthcare-related position. - Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent. - Education/training PREFERRED:
Completion of the IA HCSMM certification preparation course. - Independent actions

Depending on the area assigned, technicians are expected to rotate shifts including weekends and holidays. Schedules and shift rotations will be established with the manager. Hours may be adjusted to meet staffing requirements. - Age Specific groups served:
