• Familiar with general lab policies, procedures and departmental guidelines; complies with regulatory standards and updates.
• Manages duties independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating sound judgment and proactive problem solving.
• Completes competency assessments for designated lab sections annually, maintains accurate documentation and participates in continuing education.
• Completes required corporate training on schedule.
• Assists the lab team with specimen receiving, supply organization, and miscellaneous tasks.
• Organizes daily workflow, investigates and resolves specimen collection issues using OSR and specimen tracking tools, documents actions and communicates with stakeholders.
• Trains new employees/students on policies, procedures and laboratory safety.
• Communicates procedures clearly to patients of all ages; exercises appropriate interventions.
• Adheres to Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals for laboratory, including patient identification and effective communication with other providers.

• Required:
  
  Phlebotomy experience or training; excellent customer‑service skills.
• Preferred: ≥1 year of phlebotomy experience; specimen handling experience a plus.

  High school graduate or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  Phlebotomy training from an approved school or phlebotomy certification.

• Preferred: ASCP/ASPT certified phlebotomist or equivalent credential.
