The Pharmacy Technician II contributes to high quality, patient‑centered care by performing technical tasks vital to the distribution of medications. Under the supervision of the attending pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II accurately compounds, fills, labels, and distributes ordered medication according to departmental procedures and federal/state/local regulations. The Pharmacy Technician II maintains drug inventory and patient records and implements quality checks and performance improvement measures.
Responsibilities- Procure and distribute medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment.
- Use established policies, procedures, and protocols to fill, label medication orders, and prepackage medications.
- Round in patient care and ancillary areas as per schedule, deliver medications and supplies, and manage returns.
- Dispense controlled substances with proper documentation; alert pharmacist of counting discrepancies or suspected diversions.
- Ensure patient medications have been checked and released by a pharmacist prior to dispensing or delivery.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 1+ year experience as a pharmacy technician.
- 3+ months experience in product compounding.
