  • Conduct evaluations on referred patients.
  • Plan and implement comprehensive treatment programs, including discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow-up or continued care.
  • Document results of evaluations and services in accordance with hospital and department guidelines.
  • Participate as a member of a self-directed departmental team and an interdisciplinary patient care team.
  • Provide clinical instruction to OT and OTA students, and train department and hospital staff as needed.
Licensure Requirements for Hire

Licensed (or licensed-eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist.

Licensure Requirements for Continued Employment
  • Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation.
  • Maintenance of licensure once granted.
  • Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.
Experience Required
  • New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
Experience Preferred
  • Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility.
Education/Training Required
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
Education/Training Preferred
  • Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
Independent Actions Required
  • Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
  • Setting schedule and managing time.
  • Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
  • Completion of routine documentation.
  • Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self-directed work team.
  • Customer interaction.
Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable)

Provide supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.

Position Requirements
  • Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific Manager.
  • Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit's organizational and staffing needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical:
    Lifting 50-100 lbs.
  • Activities:

    Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
  • Mental/Sensory:
    Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, read, logical thinking.
  • Emotional:
    Fast pace environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, able to adapt to frequent change.
