Walgreens’ pharmacy technician positions have evolved from a transaction-based environment to a patient-centric one. As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you’ll be front and center – interacting with our customers and developing strong patient relationships. You will receive training to become a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician.

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and in performing other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers with pharmacy systems and cash register operations.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
• Share customer service best practices with all team members and deliver Walgreens service traits such as proactively offering help, identifying needs, and servicing until satisfied.
• Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.

• Assist in the practice of pharmacy under supervision, complying with state, federal, and company policy and the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Complete pharmacy system tasks (enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, verify medicines, check interactions, maintain workflow), report prescription errors immediately, and adhere to quality program policies.
• Register and handle cash at the assigned register, take customers to the OTC aisle when possible, handle telephone calls not requiring pharmacist attention, and process manual claims for third-party programs.
• Support inventory management activities (ordering, unpacking, storing shipments, managing asset protection techniques, filing claims for overages or shortages).
• Assist with clinical services such as collection and labeling of blood/urine samples, coordination of clinical services, and outreach to local medical community.
• Maintain the Pharmacy Department’s appearance, clean and orderly condition, and complete special assignments.

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state required certification.
• Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

• Six months of experience in a retail environment.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
• Good computer skills.
• Knowledge of store inventory control.
• PTCB certification.
