Physical Therapist - Acute Care Pediatrics

The Physical Therapist Clinician II is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record.

The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient populations.

• Deliver physical therapy care and record care in the hospital medical record.
• Act as a consultant to various patient populations.
• Provide instruction to OT/PT support staff, PT students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members.
• Rotate through various clinical service areas.
• Patient evaluation and implementation of intervention programs, discharge planning.
• Ordering equipment.
• Represent department at rounds and discharge conferences.
• Scheduling and charging patients.
• Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, students, and volunteers (if applicable).
• Apply knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving.
• Handle unresolved issues and bring them to departmental manager for assistance.
• Share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations or have a fluctuation of daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient population needs.

• Licensed or licensure eligible by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
• Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
• Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.

• Experience
  
  REQUIRED:
  
  Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Physical Therapist.
• Experience PREFERRED: N/A.
• Education/Training
  
  REQUIRED:
  
  Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy.
• Education/Training PREFERRED: Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy.
• Successful challenge of the VCUHS Physical Therapy Clinical Ladder.

• Lifting 50-100 lbs.
• Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), repetitive motion.

• Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving.
• Hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, read, logical thinking.

• Fast pace environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities.
• Frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment.
• Able to adapt to frequent change.
