The Physical Therapist Clinician II is primarily responsible for the delivery of physical therapy care to the patient population to which she/he is assigned and the recording of that care in the hospital medical record.
The therapist acts as a consultant to various patient populations.
Responsibilities- Deliver physical therapy care and record care in the hospital medical record.
- Act as a consultant to various patient populations.
- Provide instruction to OT/PT support staff, PT students, personnel of other disciplines within VCUHS, and patient and/or family members.
- Rotate through various clinical service areas.
- Patient evaluation and implementation of intervention programs, discharge planning.
- Ordering equipment.
- Represent department at rounds and discharge conferences.
- Scheduling and charging patients.
- Supervise Physical Therapist Assistants, Patient Care Technicians, students, and volunteers (if applicable).
- Apply knowledge and experience in daily clinic problem solving.
- Handle unresolved issues and bring them to departmental manager for assistance.
- Share in weekend and holiday schedule expectations or have a fluctuation of daily work hours from 8 AM to 7 PM based on patient population needs.
- Licensed or licensure eligible by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
- Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Physical Therapist.
- Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.
- Experience
REQUIRED:
Minimum of 1 year of work experience as a Physical Therapist. - Experience PREFERRED: N/A.
- Education/Training
REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Physical Therapy. - Education/Training PREFERRED: Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Physical Therapy.
- Successful challenge of the VCUHS Physical Therapy Clinical Ladder.
- Lifting 50-100 lbs.
- Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), repetitive motion.
- Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving.
- Hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, read, logical thinking.
- Fast pace environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities.
- Frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment.
- Able to adapt to frequent change.
