Occupational Therapist - Acute Pediatric Occupational Therapy TTWP

The Occupational Therapist TTWP job conducts evaluations on referred patients. This role plans and implements a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow‑up or continued care. The OT documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines. This therapist participates as a member of a self‑directed departmental team as well as an interdisciplinary patient care team, provides clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed, and offers training and education to department and hospital staff.

Licensed (or licensure eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist.

Current license by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist. Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.

Minimum of 1 year of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.

Previous experience with evaluations and interventions (physical and psycho‑social).

Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.

Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.

Successful challenge of the VCUHS Occupational Therapy Clinical Ladder.

• Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
• Setting schedule and managing time.
• Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
• Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
• Completion of routine documentation.
• Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self‑directed work team.
• Customer interaction.

Occupational Therapist provides supervision for Rehab Technician, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.

• Cross‑coverage to other treatment teams as needed.
• Saturday/holiday coverage on a rotating basis and flexibility in work hours as needed to accommodate departmental needs as applicable.

As appropriate based on unit assignment.

• Weight lifting 50–100 lbs.
• Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
• Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, logical thinking.
