Travel Interventional Radiology Technologist

Fusion Medical Staffing-Cath Lab is seeking a travel Interventional Radiology Technologist for a 13‑week assignment in Richmond, Virginia.

Required Qualifications
  • One year of recent experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist
  • Valid ARRT or RCIS/RCES certification in compliance with state regulations
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current ACLS certification (AHA/ARC)
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license in compliance with state regulations
  • PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certification
  • Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist assists physicians in performing minimally invasive procedures using advanced imaging technology. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, operating fluoroscopic and other imaging modalities, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Essential Work Functions
  • Prepare and position patients for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Operate imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, CT, and ultrasound, to guide procedures
  • Assist physicians by scrubbing in for sterile procedures, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs and procedural details
  • Administer contrast media and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Ensure proper radiation safety measures for patients, staff, and self
  • Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment, ensuring readiness
  • Manage and restock procedural supplies, including catheters, guide wires, and contrast agents
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other team members to provide seamless patient care
  • Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory protocols
  • Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support IR lab operations
  • Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • English reading, writing, and communication proficiency
  • Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal guidance, and proficiency in PC use
  • Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills to work with diverse personnel and maintain professionalism
  • Technical skill to perform fine manipulation and assist with procedures and equipment use
  • Mental resilience to cope with frequent contact with the public, meet deadlines under pressure, and work independent or with close supervision
  • Sensory requirements: visual acuity and effective communication abilities
