Position: Pathology Specialist - Cytogenetics - PRN (16 hours per week)

$2,500 Sign On Bonus for offers accepted by February 28, 2026. Terms and Conditions apply

The Pathology Specialist provides accurate and timely testing and results to requesting physicians and other healthcare professionals for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.

The Pathology Specialist should consistently utilize excellent customer service skills to both internal and external customers at all times. A positive and professional interpersonal style with a strong commitment to the team effort is mandatory.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
  • Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) or equivalent categorical certification preferred
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Continued Employment
  • Clinical Laboratory Specialist in Cytogenetics (CLSp(CG)) certification within three (3) years of employment in position (applies to Cytogenetics Lab only)
Experience Required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical laboratory experience utilizing laboratory principles, procedures and technical skills

  • None
Education/Training Required
  • Minimum of a Bachelors of Science Degree in a Life Science from an accredited program (unless candidate possesses a Ph.D. in a related field or foreign trained MD)
Education/Training Preferred
  • Master's of Science Degree in Life Science from an accredited program
Independent Actions Required
  • Performance of procedures, evaluation, and reporting of results as outlined in the manual of standard operating procedures.
  • Notification of panic values to ordering physicians as required.
  • Customer service oriented communications.
  • Participate in teaching new employees, students, residents, etc. in areas that competency is demonstrated.
  • Must complete required continuing education hours annually.

  • Rotating weekends as required.
  • Holiday scheduling as required.
  • On call availability, as required and for emergency coverage on any shift.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting less than 20 lbs; lifting 20-50 lbs.
  • Exposure to biohazards and potentially infectious body fluids.
  • Prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, repetitive motion: typing, pipetting.
  • Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speak clearly, write legibly, reading, logical thinking, visual acuity.
  • Fast paced environment, steady pace, able to handle multiple priorities, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, adaptive to frequent change.
