Hourly Research Technician – School of Medicine, Neurosurgery
Apply for the Hourly Research Technician – School of Medicine, Neurosurgery role at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.
Responsibilities- Perform quantitative analyses of brain scans, requiring proficiency in neuroanatomy.
- Assist with research studies, experiments, and assays, including collection of data and behavioral/cognitive testing.
- Comply with established safety procedures and maintain required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Perform data entry and maintain data files on research.
- Present timely research data at lab meetings.
- Contribute research data to publications, grant submissions, and conference presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four years.
- Expertise in neuroanatomy and quantitative analyses of brain scans (magnetic resonance imaging).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member, and to communicate effectively with laboratory staff and investigators.
- Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
- Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to work in, and foster an environment of, respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students.
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in biology, animal science, chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, or related disciplines.
- Salary Range: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour.

This position is open until filled. It is a restricted position with no set end date. Continued employment depends on project need, funding availability, and performance.
