Commercial Risk is the first line of defense, managing non‑credit risk for the Commercial Banking line of business. Commercial Risk leads regulatory and operational risk management for the Commercial Bank. We interact with internal and external partners for Audit, regulatory exams, and compliance assessments, and are the point of contact for all second line operational risk management interactions.
Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with stakeholders and executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.
The Commercial Risk Manager is accountable for managing the Incentive Risk, Conduct Risk (sales practices and mandatory time away), and International Risk programs.
Responsibilities- Manage the Commercial Bank’s Incentive Risk, Conduct Risk, and International Risk programs including:
- Management and administration of the Commercial Bank’s Mandatory Time Away program
- Collect and analyze incentive/conduct risk data identifying risks and trends to support program deliverables
- Execute Country Risk activities including creating and maintaining Country Risk Exit Plans and Country Risk Assessments
- Develop and maintain Incentive Risk metrics to support the compilation of the quarterly Commercial Bank Leadership Team (CBLT) scorecard and Covered Associate reporting
- Create and present program updates in various forums influencing stakeholders to ensure overall risk management and compliance
- Report metrics associated with each risk program to senior executives and stakeholders across the organization
- Foster a highly collaborative environment with other teams and various partner groups to create an integrated and seamless risk experience for the business
- Balance multiple priorities to help drive business value and support team objectives
- Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience
- At least 4 years of experience in Fraud, Risk Management, Compliance or Audit
- At least 3 years of Financial Services experience
- At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients
- Master’s Degree
- Commercial Banking experience
- Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills to confidently interact across the organization and with enterprise stakeholders
- Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Applications
- At least 5 years of experience managing multiple projects and initiatives
- Ability to manage multiple high profile priorities well under pressure and tight deadlines; works well with changing priorities in a dynamic small team environment.

The minimum and maximum full‑time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part‑time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Richmond, VA: $138,100 – $157,700 for Risk Manager
Charlotte, NC: $138,100 – $157,700 for Risk Manager
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
