The Opportunity:

As VP of Commercial Lending, you will play an instrumental role in developing and managing robust commercial banking relationships, delivering tailored credit solutions to middle‑market and small business clients. This is an exciting opportunity to build and expand a commercial portfolio in a high‑growth region while making a tangible impact on the local business community.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new commercial banking relationships and grow an existing portfolio of business clients.
- Structure and originate Commercial & Industrial (C&I), Plant & Equipment (P&E), and Small Business loans in the $10MM–$15MM range.
- Partner with credit administration to analyze financial statements, evaluate risk, and structure credit facilities.
- Maintain strong deposit relationships and identify opportunities to grow core deposits and treasury services.
- Manage the full lending lifecycle including underwriting collaboration, approval process, documentation, and portfolio monitoring.
- Actively participate in community and business development efforts, leveraging in-depth knowledge of the Richmond market.
- Ensure compliance with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and sound credit practices.
Must-Have
Skills:
- 7+ years of commercial lending or commercial banking experience.
- Demonstrated track record in developing and managing relationship‑based commercial banking portfolios.
- Strong credit analysis and underwriting expertise.
- Experience originating C&I loans, equipment financing, and small business lending.
- Proven ability to structure transactions in the $10MM–$15MM range.
- Deep understanding of deposit products, treasury management, and cross‑selling opportunities.
- Excellent relationship management and business development skills.
Nice‑to‑Have
Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Strong familiarity with the Richmond, VA commercial market landscape.
- Experience working closely with credit and treasury teams in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to actively participate in community outreach and market development initiatives.
- Experience ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal credit policies.
