* Leading and executing advanced actuarial work that directly supports strategy, profitability, and business decision-making.
* Presenting findings to both actuarial and non-actuarial stakeholders in a clear, actionable format.
* Mentoring junior analysts and serving as a technical resource within the team.
* Minimum of 3 years of actuarial experience.
* Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or a related analytical field.
* Minimum GPA of 3.2 in both major and overall coursework preferred
* Completion of at least 4 SOA/CAS actuarial exams, with a demonstrated commitment to pursuing Associate or Fellowship designation in the Casualty Actuarial Society.
* Proficiency in Excel, with strong computer skills.
* Preferred experience includes programming knowledge in SQL, and familiarity with common data science tools like R or Python.
* Experience with Power BI.
* Strong background in P&C pricing.
* High attention to detail, excelling in precision, calculations, and preparation of detailed reports.
* Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines.
* Proactive and driven, consistently taking initiative to achieve impactful results.
* Flexible and adaptable, thriving in dynamic environments and embracing change with confidence.
* Exceptional team collaborator, fostering positive relationships and contributing to a cohesive and productive team environment.
Job level, title, and base salary offered to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, specialized skills relevant to the role, and possession of the outlined preferred qualifications. Markel reserves the right to propose an alternative career level based on these factors. Base salary offered for the successful candidate will be based on compensable factors, such as job-relevant education, job-relevant experience, training, licensure, demonstrated competencies, geographic location, and other factors.
The national average salary for the Actuarial Analyst position is $62,400 - $85,800 with 12% bonus potential. The national average salary for the Senior Actuarial Analyst position is $78,000 - $107,250 with 15% bonus potential.
