Right of Way Specialist
Location:
Richmond, VA. We are seeking a Right of Way Specialist to join our Transportation Group in the Richmond, VA office location. This person will be responsible for negotiating and obtaining land, easements, and other rights from property owners and will assist the Right of Way team with completing tasks as it relates to any and all projects.
- Draft and prepare all documents related to land acquisition including but not limited to deeds, easements, agreements, right of entries.
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets, right of way negotiation reports (R24), and pertinent information pertaining to each property owner.
- Conduct courthouse or online searches to determine ownership and property rights.
- Meet with property owners to fully explain all documentation and the impact to their property.
- Other duties as required.
- Ideal candidates will have two to four years of experience in Right of Way work.
- Must be able to read and understand right of way plan sheets, plan sheets and plats.
- Must have excellent written, verbal and negotiation skills.
- Must be able to work independently throughout the State of Virginia meeting with property owners to acquire the necessary land rights for each project.
- Must be familiar with the LAP Manual and the VDOT Right of Way and Utilities Manual.
- Must possess a valid driver license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co‑workers, clients, and other external contacts.
- Demonstrate basic computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to learn company specific applications when necessary.
- Candidate will work in a drug free environment and will have to submit to screening.
- Candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check.
