Position: Mainframe System Engineer (Richmond)
Our client, a leading organization in the technology sector, is seeking a Mainframe System Engineer (Richmond) to join their dedicated team. As a Mainframe System Engineer (Richmond), you will be an integral part of the Mainframe Operations Department supporting critical infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to work, which will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: Mainframe System Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid
-3 days onsite per week)

Position type: 12+ months with high possibility of extension/Conversion

What's the Job?

• Support and maintain Mainframe (System z) Storage systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
• Design, implement, and troubleshoot storage solutions including Hitachi Vantara DASD replication and IBM TAPE GRID configurations
• Work with Broadcom (Brocade) FICON directors and channel extension technologies to enhance system connectivity
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for storage systems and processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new Mainframe Storage technologies and support ongoing projects

What's Needed?

• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Mainframe Storage Administrator or similar role
• Proficiency with Hitachi Vantara DASD synchronous and asynchronous replication
• Experience with IBM TAPE GRID configurations and Broadcom (Brocade) FICON directors
• Strong knowledge of Mainframe operations including ACC/SRS, ACS, DFHSM, ICKDSF, CA1, User Catalogs, ABARS, TDMF, and DFDSS
• Proficiency with SAS, VISIO, MS Office, and REXX scripting; familiarity with Assembler, CLIST, and project management skills
