Project Designer – Land Planning & Site Development Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Project Designer to support land planning, development, and site engineering projects. This position is best suited for an early-career professional with less than 5 years of experience who is eager to learn, grow technical skills, and contribute to the planning and design of residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
The Project Designer will work closely with project managers, engineers, and planners to prepare design documents, perform technical analyses, and assist with project coordination from concept through permitting and construction.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, and roadway alignments.
- Support land planning and site development efforts, including feasibility studies and concept layouts.
- Perform basic engineering calculations related to stormwater, grading, and site utilities.
- Prepare and revise drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software.
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure designs align with project requirements and standards.
- Assist with permit applications, plan submittals, and responses to agency review comments.
- Participate in project meetings and assist with documentation and follow-up items.
- Conduct site visits, field investigations, and data collection as needed.
- Maintain organized project files and adhere to quality control procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Land Planning, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
. - 0–5 years of experience in land development, site engineering, or related design roles.
- Strong interest in land planning, development, and site design.
- Proficiency or working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D (required).
- Familiarity with site development principles such as grading, drainage, utilities, and roadway design.
- Basic understanding of local zoning, land use, and permitting processes (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of senior engineers and designers.
