Lead Systems Engineer - Building Automation

Currently seeking an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership on complex Building Automation System (BAS) and HVAC controls projects in the Richmond, VA region. This role is ideal for a senior professional who excels at system design, problem‑solving, and guiding teams through successful project delivery.
As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will take ownership of BAS architecture, control strategies, and technical execution across commercial and institutional projects. You will work closely with project managers, programmers, and field technicians to ensure systems are engineered, installed, and commissioned to the highest standards of quality, performance, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities- Leading BAS system design, control strategies, and sequences of operation
- Serving as the technical authority during installation, commissioning, and startup
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex controls, integration, and network issues
- Reviewing drawings, submittals, and technical documentation
- Mentoring engineers and technicians while promoting best practices and standards
- Acting as a primary technical interface with customers, contractors, and internal teams
- Extensive experience in building automation and HVAC controls engineering
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, control theory, and BAS architecture
- Experience with major platforms such as Niagara, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, or Honeywell
- Proven ability to lead technical delivery on commercial BAS projects
Candidates must be located in Richmond, VA or willing to relocate/commute
