In environmental consulting, we’re focused on advancing our clients’ bold environmental stewardship. We’re seeking a Senior Environmental Planning and Permitting/Project Manager to lead environmental permitting, sediment studies, and regulatory approvals across a variety of portfolios and projects. You would work with the Department of Defense, Federal and Civilian agencies (i.e., EPA, USFWS), energy clients, and defense contractors. You’ll apply and grow your technical experience in leading environmental planning and permitting projects and executing a permitting strategy.
Aligned with our Richmond, VA office, this is a hybrid position where you can work remotely and in the office. You will be a seller-doer, developing relationships with our clients, leading proposal efforts, and collaborating on overall client strategy with our sales teams. You will lead environmental permitting and related efforts to support project development, meet client objectives, and project-specific internal financial goals.
Your technical expertise will support the delivery of planning and permitting projects and bolster strategies to grow the business in the region. You will have the opportunity to contribute to and manage projects and programs to avoid and minimize environmental impact while accelerating change through important energy infrastructure and energy transformation projects. Your analytical and writing skills will be called upon as you lead the development of quality client deliverables.
Your consulting leadership will include permitting strategy, impact avoidance and minimization, permit application review and development support, and client communication. You will provide motivation and direction to project teams while you are partnered with experienced project delivery and technical leaders and mentors to facilitate your project and career priorities. Lead environmental permitting and related efforts to support project development and meet client objectives.
Develop and execute permitting strategies, including impact avoidance and minimization, and permit application review and development support.
Collaborate with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to drive successful environmental planning and regulatory approvals.
Provide motivation and direction to project teams and mentor junior staff.
Support proposal efforts and overall client strategy in coordination with sales teams.
Contribute to and manage projects and programs to minimize environmental impact on energy infrastructure and energy transformation projects.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in natural resources, environmental science, environmental planning, or other related technical degree.
- At least ten years of industry experience.
- Project management/task lead experience with a work history of increasing responsibility for resource planning and/or environmental permitting throughout the US.
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations; knowledge of environmental regulatory processes and permit compliance.
- Ability to charter and lead a project or task team with a focus on safety, client service, and internal delivery goals.
- Ability to foster relationships with large project teams, clients, client contractor staff, and third-party consultants.
- Ability to travel occasionally to a client office and travel to project sites.
Ideally, you ll also have
- Experience with the environmental consulting industry managing energy or power infrastructure, renewable energy, linear infrastructure, or other related projects.
- Experience managing projects regulated by federal agencies like the US Navy, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and US Army Corps of Engineers.
