The Project Controls Associate assists project management teams by developing, monitoring, and updating estimates and integrated project plans and schedules to ensure efficient project execution. The role applies methods, techniques, standards, processes, and templates to manage and control project estimates and schedules while operating within policy and procedural guidelines.
Responsibilities- Supports project team and estimating/scheduling personnel in developing the project plan and translating it into estimates/schedules.
- Develops and provides analysis of project estimates or schedules, including CPM software implementation, time‑impact and delay analysis, and review of periodic schedule updates.
- Ensures credibility of information contained in estimate/schedule.
- Assists with the preparation of project time and/or cost claims.
- Records project historical estimate/schedule information and lessons learned.
- Applies methodologies, techniques, and tools, software, standards, and guidelines for estimating and/or planning/scheduling.
- Ensures required project estimating and/or planning/scheduling controls are implemented and maintained.
- Participates in continuous improvement of the estimating/scheduling organization through benchmarking and maintaining affiliations with industry associations.
- Develops master and detail schedules inclusive of major milestones, detailed WBS, cost/labor/equipment assignments, resource leveling, etc.
- Monitors and updates schedule progress, informing management of changes.
- Prepares schedule progress reports, trending charts, and analyses, and forecasts for significant activities; identifies changes affecting the critical path and develops recovery schedules.
- Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business, Business Administration, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Requirements: 2+ years of Primavera P6 experience; construction and/or project scheduling experience; knowledge of Primavera or related applications; design scheduling, construction scheduling, program scheduling, and cost & resource loading knowledge.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to identify key issues and recommend optimal solutions.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to engage with all levels.
- Ability to coordinate cross‑functional work groups and projects.
- Working knowledge of financial & economic analysis, project & risk management.
- Physical ability to work in a power‑plant environment, including climbing stairs and working in hot, confined spaces.
This role is primarily sedentary in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment. The job may involve filing or lifting up to 20 pounds.
