Job Summary
Principal Forensic Structural Engineer at EFI Global is responsible for leading investigations into structural failures, providing expert opinions and guiding teams across legal, insurance, and construction sectors.
Base Pay Range$155,000 – $180,000 per year, depends on skills and experience.
Primary PurposeTo responsibly manage profitable, ethical, and scientific investigations of events, systems, devices, and failures; deliver expert opinions; and determine the proper course of action on investigations and report reviews for assigned cases.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Assign engineers to client losses in the assigned area and manage quality control.
- Survey losses and loss scenes at residential and commercial buildings.
- Conduct investigations to determine and document the scope of damage.
- Provide guidance and leadership on complex losses.
- Implement engineering strategies within the assigned engineering team.
- Collaborate with other investigators to produce detailed reports outlining cause and origin of losses and damages.
- Serve as an expert witness in court and/or depositions.
- Document and maintain billable hours on a time and expense basis.
- Collaborate with EFI's national team of forensic experts to leverage experience and assist on projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support the organization’s quality programs.
- Travel as required.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Professional Engineering (PE) license required in the resident state.
ExperienceEight (8) years of experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
Skills & Knowledge- Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation.
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies.

Physical Requirements- Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods.
- Must be able to kneel, squat or bend.
- Must be able to work outdoors in hot and/or cold weather conditions.
- Ability to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach/overhead.
- Lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
- Push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- Drive up to 4 hours per day.
