The Deputy Project Leader (Telecommunications) is a training role focused on learning to supervise and direct employees on specific projects, develop strategic plans and budgets, and analyze statistical data.

This position requires experience in technology systems integration, including passive and active communication infrastructure, with proven leadership in design and construction teams.

Responsibilities

Assist in leading teams providing Communications and Electronic Safety and Security infrastructure, including pathways, cabling, networking, wireless systems, CCTV, access control, A/V, and other technologies, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

Support the design and deployment of Information Transport and telecommunications systems.

Manage daily operations of projects or project segments.

Identify and resolve change orders effectively.

Price, track, and manage change orders.

Plan and monitor cash flow and expenses.

Maintain accurate as-builts during project execution.

Document project issues and conditions.

Plan and execute project completion activities, including punch lists.

Set goals and organize work to achieve objectives.

Interpret blueprints and specifications.

Research, compile submittals, and prepare estimates for projects.

Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues related to procedures, complaints, and construction challenges.

Represent the company in communications with customers, the public, government, and contractors.

Ensure timely decision-making, RFIs, and proper documentation of verbal agreements.

Qualifications

Education, Experience & Technical Skills:

5+ years’ experience with telecommunications integrators or electrical contractors, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Experience with telecommunication and electronic security projects valued between $500,000 and $10M.
Proficiency with contract documents, RFIs, submittals, and change management.
Experience installing Information Transport Systems.
Proficient in MS Office, project management tools, CPM scheduling, cost modeling, and AutoCAD.
Knowledge of technical design techniques for electrical and security projects.
Strong interpersonal, writing, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan and organize activities effectively.
Ability to work in diverse environments and maintain reliable attendance at customer sites.
Flexible schedule with occasional nights and weekends; up to 25% travel with reliable transportation.

Preferred Experience:

Experience with Accubid Estimating or similar software.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 CPM Scheduling.
Willingness to travel as needed.

Ability to work with computer screens for extended periods.
Sitting for long durations, reaching, finger dexterity.
Effective listening, speaking, reading, and problem-solving skills.
