Job SummaryAssists the Project Engineer as the technical source of information for the project. Responds to questions about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders. Assists in writing change orders, RFIs, meeting minutes, and reviewing submittals. Maintains professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers. This position includes three progression steps (I, II, Senior) based on experience and project size/complexity.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Project Engineer in developing and maintaining as-built drawings; process submittals, change orders, RFIs, and budget forecasting; manage meeting agendas and field documentation.
- Support and execute the project management plan; understand and participate in the change management process; assist with project scope activities.
- Administer the project quality management plan and promote safety culture on the project.
- May assist in calculating daily production rates and unit costs for self-performed work; participate in risk management and environmental controls; take corrective actions as needed.
- May oversee BIM coordination between subcontractors and designers.
- May document submittals for LEED certification and create/update Digital Record Drawings (ORD).
- May provide lines, grades, and layout as required; maintain an organized log book.
- Maintain quantity logs and report quantities in accordance with the cost control manual; assist with budgeting and cost control to meet the approved budget; demonstrate business acumen within area of responsibility.
- Provide support to superintendents to execute work and assist in resolving field problems.
Job Requirements
- Ability to take responsibility and communicate effectively with others.
- Entry-level position requiring a four-year construction-related degree or equivalent technical/field experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).
- Frequent reaching above shoulder height and below waist; occasional stooping, kneeling, or bending.
- Frequent use of telephone, computer, and other devices to communicate with internal and external contacts.
- Must comply with all safety standards and procedures; occasional climbing of stairs or ladders.
- Frequent hand use to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects; regular interaction with people during shifts; occasional lifting or moving of objects.
- May sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
Safety-Sensitive role. Tasks may affect the safety and health of the employee or others (e.g., operating vehicles or equipment, handling hazardous materials, or other critical duties).
