Transportation Lead Virginia

Moffatt & Nichol is actively seeking a Virginia Transportation Leader to join our transportation practice in our Richmond or Norfolk Offices. The Virginia Transportation Lead will be responsible for establishing, guiding, directing and overseeing M&N’s Transportation Practice in Virginia. The Transportation Lead will partner with the Business Unit Leader and other Transportation Leaders in outlining M&N’s strategic approach, identifying a transportation roadmap for successful growth, evaluating project performance, developing a strategic plan and assessing new business opportunities for all multimodal transportation.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Maintains key client relationships through deep client, both VDOT and local agencies, knowledge, actively pursue strategic business and deliver high-quality services
  • Collaborates with clients, regulatory agencies, diverse engineering disciplines, sub-consultants and vendors
  • Responsible for transportation-related services and deliverables provided by M&N
  • Assist with the evaluation and identification of resources to support pursuits and project delivery (internal and external)
  • Supports the development and implementation of transportation vision for continued diversification of the M&N Transportation Practice
  • Partners with Transportation Leadership in monitoring and tracking projects including scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables
  • Responsible for client satisfaction through successful project delivery and winning repeat business
  • Develop local and regional visibility by actively participating in external industry organizations
  • Partner in development of strategy plan to diversify the Transportation Practice and provide an agile growth strategy for the future of Transportation at M&N
  • Understand and implement forward thinking strategies for advancing data, technology and innovation
  • Responsible for identifying transportation opportunities, maintaining a pipeline of projects and growing business
  • Serve as Project Manager or Principal in Charge on strategic transportation projects
    • Manage a multi-disciplinary team to successfully deliver project plans, specifications, reports, and other deliverables and outcomes to clients and partners
    • Manage large multi-disciplinary highway projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic operations and transportation planning, etc.)
    • Provide technical support/mentorship to transportation engineering staff
    • Perform quality assurance reviews of project documents, engineering reports, etc.
    • Assist in preparation of qualification packages, proposals and/or contracts involving technical approach, costs, and scheduling
