What You’ll Do- Provide Electrical Engineering and Electrical Project Management for Vulcan Materials and its electrical projects, repairs, and preventive maintenance, with increasing responsibility as experience grows.
- Serve as the technical interface with vendors regarding equipment and facility designs and product applications.
- Provide technical expertise to operations personnel; ensure electrical installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance are completed safely and correctly; interface with major power providers on distribution and supply systems.
- Under supervision of a Senior Engineer, manage the electrical portion of projects through all phases (planning, design, construction, maintenance) and contribute to plant design, modifications, and related documentation.
- Assist in planning and design of electrical and automation systems; help establish equipment selection criteria; advise on application of automation to improve productivity and reduce costs; troubleshoot plant electrical issues.
- Assess needs and internal resources and coordinate external contractors as necessary.
- Mentor the Regional electrical staff to ensure safe and best practices in design, construction, and testing.
- Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
- 5 to 10 years of electrical experience in mining, heavy industrial, utility, or related industry; experience designing and managing power distribution projects (overhead and underground) is preferred.
- Experience with PLCs, soft starts, and VFDs; experience with Power System Analysis Software (e.g., ETAP, PTW) is preferred.
- Experience designing motor control systems; experience hiring and supervising electrical contractors; experience managing electrical projects of varying scale; experience managing union/nonunion personnel.
- Advanced computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, AutoCAD).
- Knowledge of mine production techniques and equipment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge and application of safety and environmental regulations (NEC, NESC, MSHA, OSHA); knowledge of Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects; strong relationship-building with all employee levels, vendors, and internal personnel.
