Civil Project Engineer II/III - Traffic Analysis and Planning
Timmons Group is seeking a civil project engineer to join our Traffic Analysis and Planning Group located in our Richmond, VA office. This role focuses on traffic analysis, planning, and related multi‑modal projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Complete operational analysis, corridor studies, traffic studies, intersection implementation, traffic calming, and safety analysis.
- Perform bicycle/pedestrian/multi‑modal feasibility analysis, design, and implementation.
- Conduct calculations using engineering formulas and software solutions.
- Research and produce objective summary reports that support project deliverables.
- Assist in preparing engineering planning schedules and cost estimates.
- Collect field data through observation, inspection, and analysis.
- Communicate with client staff and internal design team.
- Present results and recommendations to the general public.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
- Between two and six years of experience in Transportation / Traffic Engineering and Planning; new graduates are considered.
- Proficiency with Synchro, SIDRA, and HCS.
- Knowledge of traffic analyses, planning studies, safety, forecasting, signal design, ITS design, and/or signal timing.
- Experience with bicycle, pedestrian, and multi‑modal projects.
- Basic CAD and/or GIS knowledge.
- Experience working with DOT and/or localities.
- PE/EIT preferred.
