Adjunct – Nuclear Engineering
Virginia Commonwealth University – College of Engineering – Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department seeks applicants for an adjunct position.
Since its inception in 1996, the VCU College of Engineering has brought innovative, real‑world engineering education to Central Virginia. The College comprises five departments plus the Dean’s office and enrolls more than 2,000 undergraduate and 450 graduate students. As part of a premier research university, the College values the significant and positive impact of people and ideas in the promotion of regional and global prosperity.
PositionResponsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lectures in alignment with current course‑level learning objectives
- Preparing and assigning homework problems and exams related to the course
- Grading homework problems and exams, and assigning final course grades
- Collecting assessment data and sample student work, as needed
- Holding office hours; answering student questions; and providing timely responses to email, as needed
- MS, Ph.D., or Previous Work Experience in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering or a closely related field
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of nuclear science, energy, and technology
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an adjunct at VCU.
- A minimum of five years of relevant academic experience
