The Wilson School of Design (WSD), located on the Richmond campus, has eight programs that encourage students to take risks and innovate in small, personalized classes offering intensive hands-on learning experiences and state-of-the-art equipment.
The Diploma in Front-End Development for Interactive Applications program is designed for students new to both design and coding, with focus areas in Web Fundamentals, Front-End Technologies and Coding Principles, Design Fundamentals, UI/UX and Prototyping, and Project Management and Professional Development. The curriculum introduces students to mobile and software contexts while focusing on responsive web design and frameworks, and web development best practices and optimization.

POSITION OVERVIEWThe Front-End Development (FDIT) diploma program is seeking applicants who are qualified to teach one or a selection of the following courses (developer-related, design-related):

- FDIT 1140 User Experience (UX) Foundations

- FDIT 1210 Back-End Web Programming
- FDIT 1220 Front-End Development Frameworks & Libraries 1
- FDIT 1230 Design Systems for Interactive Applications
- FDIT 1240 Responsive Design:

Faculty members of WSD are also expected to contribute and participate in any of the following:
- Curriculum development and review
- Assisting students outside of scheduled class time
- Service and representation of the program on various university committees, internally and externally

QUALIFICATIONSMinimum qualifications include:
Developer-related courses:
- A Bachelor s degree in computer science, engineering, interactive media, or related fields
- At least 3 years working in web: either agency or working for a company
- Experience with developing apps (mobile or web) within the last 5 years
- Post-secondary teaching experience, minimum 3 years preferred or a teaching credential
Design-related courses:
- A Bachelor s degree in design, psychology, kinesiology, computer science, or related discipline or academic credentials and experience appropriate to areas of responsibility
- At least 5 years working in design: UX and UI
- Professional experience within the last 5 years
- Experience can be part of in-house team or agency. If consulting, then will need to see roles with partners
- Important to have worked as part of a team
- Post-secondary teaching experience, minimum 3 years preferred or a teaching credential
