The Department of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability in the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability to begin on August 18, 2026.
We seek a teacher-scholar who shares our commitment to highly effective teaching at all levels of the curriculum. The successful candidate will teach 3 courses in the fall and 3 courses in the spring semester, which may include but are not limited to Introduction to Physical Geography, Introduction to Physical Geography Lab, Environmental Remote Sensing, and a GIS elective.
The Department emphasizes engaged teaching, applied research, and close mentorship to further our students’ exploration and understanding of bio-physical, cultural, and geospatial environments and their interactions and transformations, thereby empowering our students to shape a just and sustainable world.
A PhD in Geography, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, or related field is required by the time of appointment.
