Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia, serving Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The part‑time Instructional Designer will bridge the gap between faculty needs and effective course design by offering targeted support in creating model courses that serve as high‑quality learning templates.

Special Assignments

• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

• May be required to assist the agency or state government during an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Required Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Canvas or a similar LMS.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning theories for adult learners.
  • Knowledge of instructional design theories and applications.
  • Knowledge of assessment and evaluation.
  • Skill in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, synchronous and asynchronous communication applications, multimedia authoring tools, and Web 2.0 tools.
  • Demonstrated project‑management ability (concept, design, planning, implementation, and managing multiple tasks).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse team in a fast‑paced, frequently changing environment.

This position is budgeted through 6/30/2026. The role is paid hourly; wage employees are limited to approximately 29 hours per week or 1,500 hours per year. The position is a non‑exempt part‑time role and does not offer state benefits.
