Job Overview

Virginia Western Community College is accepting applications for dynamic, adult‑learning oriented, exceptional part‑time Corporate & Professional Training Adjunct Faculty in the School of Career & Corporate Training (CCT). The role involves designing, developing, and implementing innovative, cutting‑edge, customized corporate and professional training programs for diverse clients across the Roanoke region.

Work Schedule & Telework

Work schedule varies based on the needs of the corporate client. Instructional delivery may be online, on campus, or at the client site. Adjunct instructors are appointed on an as‑needed basis, contract‑by‑contract. Telework options are subject to change based on business needs. No required travel beyond an approximate 25‑mile radius within the Roanoke Valley region.

Special Assignments
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement innovative, customized corporate and professional training programs. Deliver programmatic offerings on client site and utilize current technology for design, development, and implementation (ADDIE) of courses. Engage and motivate participants using experiential learning strategies. Communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Contribute and present innovative ideas and methods for new curricula.

KSA’s—Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Adult Education, Business Administration, Business Management, Educational & Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or another related discipline aligned to Corporate & Professional Training.
  • Minimum of three (3) years in industry training, corporate training, or community college teaching.
  • Demonstrated history of instructional design and delivery.
  • Mastery of adult learning principles.
  • Ability to deliver programmatic offerings on client site.
  • Proficiency in ADDIE model and current technology tools.
  • Excellent audience engagement and dynamic presentation skills.
  • Ability to concurrently differentiate instruction.
  • Knowledge of corporate strategic objectives, change management, and growth mindset.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning.
Additional Considerations
  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Knowledge of trending developments in related fields of specialization and ability to incorporate them into course design.
  • Ability to present innovative ideas for new curricula and program refinement.
Travel & Vehicle
  • No required travel beyond an approximate 25‑mile radius; some travel may be required within the Roanoke Valley region.
  • No operation of a state vehicle.
