D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia with campuses in Franklin and Suffolk, and a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs, plus credit and non-credit workforce services and training, special interest classes, and summer classes for youth. A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies are available.
- Laboratory Instructors are assigned for specific class times when students require direct supervision of skills practice and/or testing. Assignments to stations/activities are made by the lead instructor for the course.
- Oversee the following: deliver training or retraining on skills according to program standards, student level, and skill sheets used by the program. Variation in technique may be permissible, but instruction should not contradict lectures. The lead instructor decides permissible variations, subject to final determination by the Program Director and/or medical director.
- Ensure psychomotor and affective competency are evaluated according to established criteria and documentation as needed.
- Oversee equipment and supplies for student safety and resource protection. Report equipment damage to the lead instructor. Use supplies only for the current laboratory activity; do not remove them from the College. Store and secure equipment and supplies after class. Dispose of used supplies appropriately, including biohazards and sharps.
- Restock equipment and supplies as needed.
- Ensure proper PPE is used as required for the skill being taught.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Complete the College timesheet as directed.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications- EMT, AEMT, Paramedic or RN with EMS field experience
- Demonstrated experience in the EMS field
- Credentialed and completion of at least 1 Recertification Cycle at current level of certification
- Proven academic excellence and subject matter knowledge, evidenced by training, experience, and/or an associate degree
- Associate Degree in EMS or related field
- Paramedic license
- Educational or training experience with students
