Note:
The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services; special interest classes; and summer classes for youth. A dual enrollment program, online courses, and developmental studies are available.
Skilled Trades Instructors provide instruction, support, assessment, and mentorship to Community College non-credit learners. Instructors participate in the mission and community of the college, focusing on teaching across classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related contexts to help learners develop their interests and abilities.
Responsibilities- Teach and facilitate skill development in sheet metal and related skilled trades.
- Provide assessment and feedback to learners; mentor non-credit program participants.
- Participate in program activities; support workforce development goals and industry credential attainment.
- May be contracted on a course-by-course basis; part-time instructors will not exceed 1500 contracted hours per year.
- Deliver instruction primarily in-person; potential hybrid delivery as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned; assist the college or state government during emergencies when required.
- Knowledge of industry-related safety topics.
- Knowledge of industry-related tools, equipment, practices, processes, and performance tasks.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
- Good computer skills; ability to teach and facilitate skill development.
- Ability to assess learner performance and provide appropriate feedback; align learner outcomes within courses.
- Ability to serve traditional and non-traditional students; plan and organize instruction to maximize learning.
- Ability to promote higher-order thinking and problem solving; adhere to standards for educational quality.
- Ability to adapt to state requirements, local needs, and national trends.
- Proficiency with Email (Outlook), Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Prior teaching or training experience in a workplace or community/technical college setting.
