Overview

Virginia Western Community College invites applications for part-time Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Adjunct Faculty in the School of Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT) to teach Friday evening and Saturday day classes. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. In addition, faculty are expected to be active participants in departmental communication.

Working Title:

School of BTT Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (Friday Evening & Saturday Day) Adjunct Faculty (Part-Time)

• Teach Friday evening and Saturday day classes in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, and contribute to the delivery of the curriculum as part of the School of Business, Technology, and Trades.
• Maintain currency in the teaching discipline and in trends in community college education.
• Participate in departmental communication and collaborative planning as needed.
• Adhere to appointment on a course-by-course, semester basis and perform duties as assigned.
• Support campus and program goals, including participation in program-related tasks and special assignments as needed.

• High school diploma with five years of current occupational experience in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Heating and Ventilation, and possession of EPA 608 Universal certification.
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to write syllabi and exams; ability to develop learning strategies, curriculum and assessments; and ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds.

• Formal education from a certificate or higher degree program or apprenticeship in HVAC from an accredited school.
• Possession of other nationally recognized industry certifications.

Special assignments may be required. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
