After School Counselor

Overview

The Steward School seeks an After School Counselor to join our team of dedicated individuals providing exceptional care for our Middle and Lower School students. This is a part-time, non-benefited position reporting to the Director of Auxiliary Programs.

• Support the mission and core values of The Steward School.
• At all times, the primary job responsibility is to keep the students under your care healthy and safe with active supervision.
• Promote positive social interactions between and among students.
• Assist with homework completion for lower school students.
• Facilitate a variety of activities, including but not limited to sports, indoor/outdoor play, and arts and crafts in different environments.
• Maintain positive relationships with other faculty/staff members, as well as parents, during the student pick-up process.
• Follow and maintain safety protocols to ensure a safe environment.
• Duties require sitting, standing, and leading students across campus, and may require moderate physical activity in and out of the classroom.
• Attend regular staff meetings and use effective radio communication while on duty.

• A positive attitude, a sense of humor, and a genuine love of school-aged children.
• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree (or a candidate currently completing Education coursework) is preferred.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience working with children.
• A good driving record and willingness to learn how to drive a minibus to transport students for off-campus trips are preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Hours:
  
  3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Additional hours are available during staff training sessions.
• Special Dates:
  Occasional half-days are required (generally 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.).
