Overview
Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is seeking an innovative and collaborative adjunct instructor for the Pharmacy Technician Program. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. The successful candidate will teach a maximum of 12 credits per semester (fall/spring), which could include day, evening and weekend, off-campus, or distance education courses. Primarily face-to-face with the possibility of remote instruction.
Responsibilities- Teach developmental and/or college-level courses, which may include distance-learning courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends.
- Develop syllabi, exams, learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds; use current and emerging technologies to enhance instruction.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned and assist in emergency declarations when needed.
- High School diploma;
Associate degree in a health-related field preferred - PTCB Certification required
- Five or more years pharmacy technician experience (sterile compounding a plus)
- Ability to deliver instruction in the classroom, online, and in lab environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills in both an individual and group setting
- Work effectively as a team member to ensure that departmental goals are met
- Ability to work in a virtual environment using multiple software programs simultaneously including MS Office, Canvas, Gmail, Zoom, etc.
- Pharmacy Technician training experience
- Community College or training program teaching experience
