Adjunct Instructor Pool - Customized Business & Leadership Training

Overview

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education serving Central Virginia. PVCC is one of 23 community colleges in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and is known for its transfer curriculum and workforce development programs. The Workforce Services division seeks adjunct instructors to support customized training, consulting and coaching programs for businesses and organizations across the region.

PVCC is an on-campus institution (not remote).

• Provide effective didactic and skills instruction to engage an adult learner audience.
• Maintain a positive and safe learning environment; adhere to policies and procedures.
• Serve as a role model and advocate for student success.
• Maintain participation and performance records.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment.
• Provide timely and appropriate responses to student, staff and partner inquiries.
• Report incidents; participate in professional development and partner onboarding requirements.
• Maintain professional competence and certifications/licensure; provide analysis and reports.
• Attend to other duties as assigned; may assist the agency or state government during emergencies per governor declarations.
• Projects may focus on change management, conflict resolution, customer service, diversity and equity, leadership development, organizational culture, process improvement, and supervisory skills.

• Combination of education, industry credentials and occupational experience to demonstrate content expertise.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience teaching adult learners and/or in a community college setting.
• Commitment to community college philosophy and student success.

• Bachelor’s degree in business, education, human resources or related field.

Courses may be offered day, evening, weekend and at various locations.

This is an on-campus position (not remote).

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Telework options are subject to change based on business needs. This position may involve on-campus work with courses offered at various times and locations.
