Position Classification: Full-time, 12-month, faculty, salaried exempt
Hours: Approximately 11:00am - 7:00pm Monday-Friday; some Saturdays and evening responsibilities. Hours may vary slightly depending on competition schedules

Director of Athletics, with additional reporting responsibility to the Head Athletic Trainer

PrincipalResponsibilities
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with daily operation of the athletic training room. This individual will help provide coverage for 40+ middle/upper school sports teams throughout the school year, including pre-season for fall sports, nights & Saturdays, holiday breaks, Spring Break and travel with Varsity Football. This individual will be responsible for the prevention, recognition, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.
- Communicate with coaches and parents regarding a student-athlete’s injury & practice status
- Communicate with the athletic trainer of an injured visiting athlete
- Assist in administering baseline concussion tests to all new 8th-12th grade students, 7th graders, and 10th graders.
- Provide injury evaluations, treatments and rehab during the school day
- Provide concussion management:
- Communicate with the student-athlete’s advisor, teachers, and academic resource teams regarding the concussion diagnosis
- Provide educational information to the concussed student-athlete and his parents
- Communicate with parents regarding their son’s progress and recommend referral to a concussion specialist when warranted
- Supervise the student-athlete with his progression through the gradual return to play protocol
- Assist with the annual collection of medical forms required for athletic participation
- Assist with the annual ordering of all athletic training supplies and equipment
- Assist with taking water coolers out to practices/games
- Assist with tracking the coaches completion of annual concussion awareness training and bi-annual First Aid/CPR/AED training
- Attend regularly scheduled Athletic Department meetings
- Potential opportunity to teach Health class in the Middle School
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director and/or Headmaster

- Bachelor’s degree
- NATABOC Certified
- Licensed or eligible for licensure with the Virginia Board of Medicine
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Collaborate with the Head Athletic Trainer to ensure coverage for all practices and home athletic events
- Proficiency in documenting all injury evaluation and treatments
- Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time
- Must be able to circulate among students
- Must be able to move from field to field and from building to building as assigned or required by athletic activities
- Must be able to lift up to 50+/- pounds
- Occasionally required to work in poor weather conditions such as temperature, precipitation, and wind
