Junior High Classical Lead – Thales Academy Richmond
Thales Academy Richmond is hiring a Junior High Classical Lead for the ‘26-27 academic year. Position available to start immediately to establish program and promote school in greater Richmond area.
Mission: provide an excellent and affordable education for students in Pre‑K to 12th grades through Direct Instruction (K‑5) and a Classical Curriculum (6‑12) that embodies traditional values. Thales offers a rigorous academic environment that fosters ethical behavior, critical thinking, virtuous leadership, lifelong learning, and truth seeking with a firm foundation in cognitive, non‑cognitive, and technical skills.
Responsibilities- Leadership – Establish the junior high classical program; increase admissions and promote school in the greater Richmond area.
- Teaching – Provide instruction for all 6th grade classes including Literature, History, Math, Science, and Latin.
- Curriculum – Implement the approved curriculum; provide proper pacing guides, lesson plans, and assessments for assigned courses.
- Cooperation – Work closely with teammates to develop teaching skills.
- Collaboration – Participate in productive discussions including team planning meetings and sharing curriculum and instructional expertise.
- Professional Development – Engage in offered professional development opportunities.
- Professional Etiquette – Act in a professional manner in verbal and nonverbal communications while following established guidelines.
- Communication – Promote communication between parents, community members and teammates, and work to establish and maintain home‑school connections.
- Parental Involvement – Assist in providing opportunities for parental/guardian involvement within the school.
- A passion for teaching.
- Technical math background is a plus.
- Classical education background preferred.
- Teaching experience preferred but not required.
