Job Overview
BRCC is seeking a dynamic administrator as Dean of Academic Affairs to provide academic leadership for a diverse collection of programs and services.
- Provides administrative and instructional support for faculty teaching in transfer and technical programs (including both credit and noncredit courses), college staff who support those deliverables, and other initiatives (both existing and emerging) that support the College mission
- Supervises and supports a team of full‑time faculty and staff, adjunct faculty, and part‑time and student staff
- Develops course schedules, administers the division budget, and collaborates with community partners to build curricula and grow academic programs (delivered both on campus and digitally)
- Works in concert with faculty and staff to support and maintain a positive unit culture, facilitate ongoing professional development, and promote college governance
- Reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs
- Performs other duties or special assignments as directed
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Master’s degree in a discipline aligned with BRCC’s academic programs or in Higher Education
- Demonstrated success in academic leadership within a community college, including supervision of faculty and staff
- Proven record of data‑informed decision making in environments with clear performance expectations, accountability measures, and continuous improvement
- Ability to lead in a collaborative, shared‑governance environment, balancing institutional priorities with faculty voice and academic integrity
- Deep commitment to the community college mission, including access, equity, workforce alignment, and transfer pathways
- Strong working knowledge of current issues and trends in community colleges and higher education, including enrollment shifts, workforce partnerships, and instructional innovation
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and conflict‑management skills, with the ability to navigate complex and competing priorities
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and sustain effective teams, including supporting faculty growth and cultivating leadership capacity
- Clear and sustained commitment to student success, with evidence of improving student outcomes through academic policy, scheduling, curriculum, or support initiatives
- Effectiveness in serving the educational goals, lived experiences, and challenges of a diverse student population
- Teaching experience in a community college environment, with an understanding of its unique mission, pace, and student population
- Effectiveness in academic administration, including coordination of instructional programs, personnel, and academic operations
- Evidence of successfully leading and completing multi‑faceted projects, including planning, execution, and follow‑through across multiple stakeholders
- Progressive leadership experience, with increasing responsibility for decision making, people, and outcomes
- Clear alignment with and demonstrated support for BRCC’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Directions, including equity, student success, and community engagement
