Virginia Western Community College is seeking part‑time Mechatronics Fundamentals instructors in the School of Career and Corporate Training. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course basis.
Responsibilities- Teach Mechatronics Fundamentals courses covering topics such as electrical AC/DC, multimeters, precision measuring instruments, mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, sensors, and robotics.
- Prepare lecture materials, develop syllabi, design assessments, and create laboratory exercises.
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
- Assist in program‑related duties and support the CCT department.
- Contribute to other instructor‑related responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent coursework.
- Proficient in electrical AC/DC, multimeters, precision measuring instruments, mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, sensors, robotics, and manufacturing safety.
- Complete NC3 training and credentials in the relevant topics within 6 months of hire.
- Associate’s degree in Career and Technical Education preferred.
- NC3 credentials preferred (e.g., Festo or Snap‑On).
- Classroom Mechatronics instruction experience, preferably in accelerated certification‑preparation format.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to write syllabi and exams, develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
- Capability to work with diverse students and varied abilities.
