Virginia Western Community College is seeking part‑time Mechatronics Fundamentals instructors in the School of Career and Corporate Training. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course‑by‑course basis.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Mechatronics Fundamentals courses covering topics such as electrical AC/DC, multimeters, precision measuring instruments, mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, sensors, and robotics.
  • Prepare lecture materials, develop syllabi, design assessments, and create laboratory exercises.
  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback.
  • Assist in program‑related duties and support the CCT department.
  • Contribute to other instructor‑related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent coursework.
  • Proficient in electrical AC/DC, multimeters, precision measuring instruments, mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, sensors, robotics, and manufacturing safety.
  • Complete NC3 training and credentials in the relevant topics within 6 months of hire.
  • Associate’s degree in Career and Technical Education preferred.
  • NC3 credentials preferred (e.g., Festo or Snap‑On).
  • Classroom Mechatronics instruction experience, preferably in accelerated certification‑preparation format.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to write syllabi and exams, develop learning strategies, curriculum, and assessments.
  • Capability to work with diverse students and varied abilities.
