Campus Within Walls Adjunct Faculty – Health Sciences
Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC) is seeking an adjunct faculty member with a Master’s degree in Health Sciences or a related field to teach within our Campus Within Walls program. This part‑time teaching position offers up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semesters and up to 8 credit hours for the summer session. Classes will be taught day, night, and/or weekend hours in one or more state correctional centers.
Responsibilities- Develop, prepare, and deliver effective instruction for Health Sciences courses in a correctional setting.
- Use instructional technologies and learning management systems to support student learning without internet access.
- Meet course deadlines and submit required reporting, including grades, on time.
- Assist the agency or state government in emergency situations as required.
- Master’s degree in Health Sciences or a Master’s degree in any teaching field with a minimum of 18 credit hours of postgraduate study in Health Sciences.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to travel with a state vehicle or mileage compensation.
- Excellent interpersonal and advanced oral and written English skills.
- Ability to work in a correctional environment with limited internet connectivity.
- Must pass the Virginia Department of Corrections background screening.
- Meet Virginia Department of Education and VCCS student learning outcomes.
- Prior experience in community college or higher education, especially within a correctional center.
- Experience with People Soft or similar student registration software.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Salary commensurate with education, experience, and VCCS guidelines.
