Community Outreach Specialist
Virginia's Community College System – Piedmont Virginia Community College, Albemarle - 003
Full‑time, exempt, grant‑funded position providing in‑person outreach to community partners and prospective students.
Pay Range: $52,500 – $58,500
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday–Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
Position Overview: Identify, train, and support community‑based connectors to recruit job seekers, connect them with PVCC programs, and provide enrollment support for non‑credit students.

, matching individuals with regional jobs requiring skills training. - Provide ongoing support to connectors.
- Attend community meetings and events to recruit connectors and prospective students.
- Assist non‑credit students through the enrollment process.
- Provide coaching support to students facing barriers that risk program completion.
- Experience in community outreach (e.g., grassroots organizer, community health worker, tenant association advocate).
- Relevant experience in a related field or a blend of education and practical experience.
- Ability to train connectors on the n2work.org platform.
- Collaborative work skills with colleagues and community partners.
- Ability to recognize and expand on successful strategies and learn from unsuccessful ones.
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage, support, and motivate job seekers/students.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience with community outreach in both urban and rural environments.
- Further education in a relevant discipline.
- Knowledge of coaching and referral skills to help job seekers overcome career barriers.
No required travel beyond the PVCC service area. No state vehicle operation. No supervision of employees.
