Duties & Responsibilities:
The faculty member will divide their clinical duties between staffing the inpatient palliative care unit and providing consultative services. They will collaborate closely with both palliative care and medical oncology fellows and will be actively involved in the training and education of residents and medical students. This position offers opportunities for academic growth and participation in quality improvement initiatives within a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching | Trains medical students, residents and fellows while in the clinic and on the inpatient service.
Research | Reasonable scholarly activities, such as publications, presentations at national meetings and participation in appropriate academic organizations, are expected as well as active participation as a scientific member of the department and Massey Cancer Center.
Service | It is expected that the person in this position will be active in decreasing health disparities in the community served by Massey/VCU.
Clinical | Attends on the inpatient wards and consult service, and/or sees patients in the outpatient clinic with a focus on supportive care.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Board certified or eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Eligible for medical licensure in Virginia
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
