Mission or Goal of UnitChildren's Hospital of Richmond of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itself to transforming the General Pediatric Department into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research. Our division s mission is to strive for the advancement of healthcare for our community's children by integrating excellent patient care, quality medical education and innovative clinical research and patient advocacy into our programs.
ChiefPurpose of this position
Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU is a full-service children's hospital that offers a robust continuum of pediatric services, research and education. Our faculty provides primary care for children and adolescents through age 20 at a major urban academic medical research center. The COVID surge along with the flu surge and the RSV surge has overwhelmed the urgent care capacities of primary care peds and the peds ED.
This is placing undue burden on the ERs and the urgent care centers in the community. We need to be able to flex our capacity up and down as needed in an efficient and cost-effective way. By expanding our ability to see urgent care visits after hours (on weekdays and weekends) we will be able to decant the ERs and urgent care centers in our community AND provide better primary care for our patients.
These per diem positions will provide telehealth visits weekdays from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and weekends from 9:00 a.m.
